This short crossing of the English Channel encapsulates locations closely tied to England and the historical interactions between the two countries.

Once upon a time, the Benedictine Abbey in Fécamp supplied William the Conqueror with a ship for his campaign against England. Subsequently, it was within this abbey that the renowned Benedictine liqueur was first concocted. Visitors can savor the liqueur following the recreated recipe and explore the Gothic arches of the abbey.

For an extended period, Calais marked the final English territory on this side of the English Channel, enduring a heroic siege during the Hundred Years’ War. In commemoration of this event, Auguste Rodin crafted the “Citizens of Calais” monument. The citadel, watchtower, and old market square persist to this day, serving as a testament to both the French and English builders of the city.

Navigating the English Channel poses a genuine challenge for sailors. Throughout history, this region has been both captivating and demanding—a prime training ground for mastering the art of sailing. Consideration must be given to the timing of high and low tides, powerful currents, and the bustling maritime traffic. Night watches provide an opportunity to decipher the lights of passing ships and distinguish fishing boats from merchant vessels. Lighthouses and landmarks aid in navigating the seas using navigation charts.

Accommodation and Amenities:

Choose to sleep in a hammock, just like sailors did three centuries ago, or opt for a bunk. Both at sea and onshore, we provide four meals a day. Life on board is divided into watches, in which you will actively participate throughout your stay.
